Abstract

Faiz Ahmad Faiz is amongst the most renowned Urdu poets of 20th century. His poetry also encompasses Marxist thoughts and it can be said that he was affiliated with socialism and was a poet of progressive movement. Faiz was deeply influenced by Persian language and literature in his poetry. He beautifully incorporated various Persian words and expressions in his Urdu poetry that enhanced the elegance and allure of his verses. In one of his poems, he expressed his overwhelming reverence and love for Hafiz Shirazi. Besides, Faiz has a written a poem addressing Iranian students and has favoured the Iranian revolution. Being a romantic and revolutionist poet, Faiz has produced such masterpieces of poems through his words and poetic expressions that they will always echo in our minds.

Abstract

A comparative study of the traditions is the important need of modern times. Every language represents specific traditions. The Drawar tradition of Sindh which is one of the main traditions of four major traditions five thousand years ago is currently part of Pakistan. This tradition from Sindh to Hind and from there onwards to HindhIslami and Ganga Jamni. Finally, it transcended into Hind European tradition. During British rule, the English rulers were also responsible for decline of local tradition. It was a social and political need to impose their own language to local language. They wanted to convince the local people that their customs, way of life, way of interaction, history, fiction, in short, and their literature is obsolete. English rulers portrayed the need for modern requirements in such a way that local people considered their own ways inferior and accepted the new techniques as superior. It is a psychological tactic which is used by every conqueror. In this way a new language and a new tradition got blended in local tradition which was already a compound of many languages and traditions before it. The following research paper presents the comparative study of various traditions in the historical, social and political background of sub continental tradition.

Abstract

The practice of storytelling through poetry is not something new. It is rather an ancient practice that has evolved through the ages. Plenty of poetic stories have been verbally passed from one generation to the next, as a tradition. This propagation of literature usually requires the aid of narrative terms. These terms are used, not only for novels and stories, but for poetic narratives as well. Epic and historical stories have been found to be rich in the poetic narrative. Akhtar ul Iman is one of the most important poets of the 20th century who harnessed the potential of storytelling narratives to add a special touch to his work. This paper will highlight the interaction of narratives exhibited in his poetry. Akhtar ul Iman was a unique poet. His poems "Passenger at Daasna Station," "Heartless," "Trust," "Mute Woman," etc., demonstrate a storytelling narrative

Abstract

There is a deep and inseparable relationship between literature and history, the importance of which cannot be denied, and for a correct understanding of various literary creations, it is essential to be aware of their political and social background We have to turn to history, but in the meantime, instead of studying pure history, we study history from the point of view of literature. This article seeks to discuss the same relationship between literature and history.

Abstract

When a great poet, writer or penman takes us from the world of matter to the immaterial world, his artwork or creation in the form of a tahir gives happiness. A truth is revealed. If the separation from the ordinary brings in the extraordinary, then this creation  becomes a prelude to contemplation and deliberation with satisfaction for the reader. Because he takes his listener or reader for a while to a unique world beyond the 'material world'. The beauty of great literature is its familiarity with extraordinary things. The search for the extraordinary is called 'transcendence'. In his poems, Wazir Agha takes the reader away from the visual world where a completely different world is inhabited. Those worldly material ideas are completely different from the terrestrial realm. There is no doubt that in his book 'The Mood of Urdu Poetry' he calls poetry a terrestrial object. But it is a terrestrial mind in which 'transcendence' is also connected with mental harmony. The first open expression of the transcendental aspect in his poems is found when the reader reads so a unique world and an extraordinary statement amazes him.

Abstract

One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of folk tales compiled in Arabic language in Islamic golden age. Ratan Nath Sarshar (1846-1903) was an Urdu novelist, from British India who did the Urdu translation of One Thousand and One Nights from English version. This Urdu translation known as Alif Laila was influenced by Muslim civilization and culture of the subcontinent.
Literary analysis explores writer’s perspective through the critical evaluation of the work. It is accomplished by examining the elements such as character, setting, tone, imagery and use of literary devices which are metaphor, similes and allusions, etc. Alif Laila’s literary analysis examines all the measures of these tales with the specific focus on literary features such as character, setting, tone, imagery, use of literary devices, humor and supernatural elements
